The question of insurance coverage for abortion is one of the thorniest issues in the health-care debate. Senate Democrats hope to pass a bill by Christmas as part of President Barack Obama’s plan to revamp the health-care system, but Sen. Ben Nelson, a conservative Democrat from Nebraska, said he intends to introduce an amendment as early as today placing strict limits on insurance coverage for abortion.
Nationally respected Baptist leader Dr. Robert Jeffress believes that abortion is murder and that there is no place for it in health-care reform.
