IAMSECOND.COM SURPASSES ONE MILLION HITS:
Number of Web Visits Proves Global Desire for Discovering Who is First

The Web site for Dallas-based I am Second, a multimedia campaign designed to help individuals discover their purpose in life through Christ, has received more than 1 million hits from visitors in nearly 200 countries as far away as Burundi, the Fiji Islands and Myanmar, in just 7 1/2 months.

Since I am Second launched in December 2008, its Web site, www.iamsecond.com, has housed numerous videos of the personal stories of struggle and transformation of musicians, actors, athletes, pastors and everyday people – all who have found peace through prioritizing faith in Jesus Christ. The Web site also emphasizes community, providing seekers with listings of local churches and discussion groups, along with 24/7 access to I am Second representatives via phone, e-mail or online chat rooms in order to answer questions that might arise after viewing the site.

“Apart from God’s blessing, I think the success of the I am Second Web site comes from its authentic style that captures visitors wherever they are in their spiritual journey,” said Nathan Sheets, vice president of partner development for e3 Partners Ministry, Inc., which created the site. “This site does not sugar coat Christianity – the videos boldly address a slew of issues that people today commonly struggle with – but also transparently reveals the freeing power of faith in Jesus Christ.”

Dallas-based e3 Partners Ministry has complemented the Web site with creative, targeted billboard, TV, radio, and kiosk advertising exclusively in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The viral nature of the Internet has spread the word around the world. Later this fall, e3 Partners plans to expand the advertising components of the campaign into other markets.

While the most popular video on the site remains that of Brian “Head” Welch, former lead guitarist for the rock band Korn, new videos are frequently uploaded. Most recently, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s story of losing the 2008 presidential election bid, but not his soul, was added to the site. Other high-profile videos include that of American Idol contestant Jason Castro, Texas Rangers All-Star center fielder Josh Hamilton and The Parks, a couple who shares their journey of marriage, infidelity and restoration in the first joint I am Second video.

As site traffic has increased, so, too, have the outreach and activities that I am Second has supported in the Dallas area. This summer, I am Second has sponsored a three-event concert series at Texas Rangers baseball games, with one remaining performance by Grammy Award-nominated and Dove Award-winning Christian band MercyMe set for Sept. 19.

The campaign is also involved with the I Am Second Wounded Hero Voyage Crossing the Atlantic, a 48-day, 6,200-mile trans-Atlantic voyage that two brothers are making in a 21-foot flats boat to generate awareness of and raise financial support for military charities. The brothers’ boat sports the phrase “I am Second” to signify the selflessness and courage that comes when an individual puts faith first.

Additionally, I am Second leadership has organized a volunteer program for individuals interested in helping out with campaign activities and created a variety of resources for churches, such as prayer guides and small group materials. The campaign continues to reach people via social network sites including Twitter, Facebook (the I am Second Group currently has close to 40,000 members) and the official I am Second blog. I am Second conferences are also being planned for 2010.

“Our vision is for people to discover that I am Second is much more than just a Web site,” said Sheets. “We hope to inspire a revolution of second among people of all generations so that they may understand the fullness of life in Jesus.”
