Dr. Tony Evans, Senior Pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, and president of the Urban Alternative, will be a featured speaker at the Inaugural Prayer Breakfast on Monday in Washington. He will also attend Tuesday’s presidential inauguration of Barack Obama.

Dr. Evans is a strong advocate for rebuilding communities and racial reconciliation. President George W. Bush and many prominent Democrats in Texas support his policies.
 

Dr. Tony Evans is the founder of the National Church Adopt-A-School Initiative, a means of rebuilding communities through church and public school partnerships. He also:

• inspired George W. Bush’s commitment to faith-based initiatives
• created social programs that have drawn the support of black and white, Republican and Democrat in Texas and around the country
• was honored as one of the 10 most influential preachers of the past 50 years by Christianity Today International
• does a daily radio broadcast that is heard on more than 500 stations in the United States and in more than 40 countries
• has written some 30 books
• was the first African-American to receive a doctorate from Dallas Theological Seminary
   

“God is not a Republican, and He’s not a Democrat,” Dr. Evans says. “God is not against government; but human government was established by His will and operates by His permission.”
