CAROL GARLOW SHARES LESSONS OF BATTLE WITH CANCER:
Wife of Mega-Church Pastor Found God Turned Misery into Ministry

WHO:

Carol Garlow, Minister of Prayer and Intercession at Skyline Wesleyan Church in suburban San Diego. She is the wife of Jim Garlow, lead pastor at Skyline and host of “The Garlow Perspective,” a radio show which airs on nearly 500 stations.

WHAT:

On June 20, 2007, Carol Garlow went to the emergency room because of severe pain after minor surgery. The doctor said there were masses in her abdominal area, something similar to ovarian cancer.

The final diagnosis was primary peritoneal cancer, and a week later she underwent a seven-hour operation. She had more than 100 tumors, and the surgeon was able to remove all of them, including one the size of an orange.

The past year has been a struggle – she has undergone chemotherapy and experienced nausea as her strength has waned – but it also has been a time when she has grown closer to God. She is currently in remission.

WHEN:
By appointment.

DETAILS:
Oasis of Hope Hospital, which specializes in an integrative approach to cancer therapy, has been instrumental in her treatment. Dr. Francisco Contreras, director of Oasis of Hope, and Daniel Kennedy, the hospital’s CEO and director of counseling, along with other hospital leaders, are Christians who believe in a mind, body and spirit approach to therapy. Carol Garlow will give her testimony at Oasis of Hope’s Medical Conference & Celebration Aug. 2 in San Diego.
