MUSEUM OF NATURAL AND SPIRITUAL HISTORY
Answers in Genesis’ $27 Million Creation Museum Will Demonstrate
That The Bible And Scientific Evidence Walk Hand-In-Hand

PETERSBURG, Kentucky, February 7, 2007 – Answers in Genesis (AiG), the largest apologetics (i.e., Bible defending) organization on the planet, is constructing a $27 million revolutionary new museum designed to transport guests into a 70,000-square-foot visual, biblical representation of the history of the world.

Set to open Memorial Day weekend 2007, AiG’s Creation Museum features state-of-the-art, family-friendly exhibits, including life-sized, realistic animatronic dinosaurs and humans. The facility, situated among the hills of a scenic 49-acre parcel of land near the Cincinnati airport, is a time machine launching visitors into the period of ancient history soon after the time of creation.

Organizers believe the museum will illustrate that the Bible is the supreme authority in all matters and can withstand the most ardent scientific scrutiny. They argue that facts cannot speak for themselves. Creation researchers and evolutionists study the same sets of evidence, including fossils, animals, stars, etc. before making an interpretation. Visitors will learn that the natural sciences verify scriptural authority when one objectively studies the data.

“The Bible, where it touches on science or any subject including same-sex marriage, race or abortion, is totally trustworthy,” said Ken Ham, co-founder and president of Answers in Genesis. “As a revelation of history from the beginning to the end of time, the Bible is the foundation that enables us to construct the big picture and have the right approach in geology, biology, physics and astronomy. The Creation Museum provides a visual presentation for people to see the Bible as truth from the very first verse in Genesis to last verse in Revelation.”

Guests to the high-tech museum will journey through the history of the world via 55 high-definition videos, a planetarium utilizing the spectacular Digistar® projector and dozens of displays based on what is called the Bible’s “Seven C’s of History:” creation, corruption, catastrophe, confusion, Christ, cross and consummation. The tour then explores how the Bible provides a reliable, eyewitness account of the earth’s creation and the major events throughout history.

Visitors can also peer into a cave where real stalactites and stalagmites grow at a much faster rate than the widely accepted theory of millions of years. The museum will also include archaeological digs, a Time Tunnel, a Special Effects Theatre and Sarah (short for Triceratops), for the children to climb up on and sit on her back in a saddle.

Moreover, the Creation Museum features a one-of-a-kind, fully stocked bookstore – Dragon Hall. Accessible through the museum’s lobby, guests approaching the bookstore entrance are met overhead by a large pterosaur, a flying reptile, perched atop a nest on what appears to be a solid-rock outcropping from the surrounding wall.

Dragon Hall’s features were created almost entirely by Answers in Genesis’ artists. Designed to resemble the library of a large English manor, it comes complete with a large faux-fireplace, towering bookcases, large brick walls, stained glass windows, a huge candelabrum, artwork depicting medieval shields and a pillared bas-relief sculpture of St. George’s duel with the dragon. Here, visitors will find Bibles, Bible reference tools, homeschool curricula, AiG DVDs and gifts.

In addition, a myriad of offices, classrooms, workshops, video and audio studios are available onsite for school and church groups. Visitors can also enjoy two miles of nature trails zig-zagging around a three-acre lake and refresh themselves at the Noah’s Ark Café.

The Creation Museum is part of Ham’s longtime vision. The facility is located within a 650 mile radius of almost two-thirds of the U.S. population. Planning and real estate negotiations began in earnest in the late 1990s and AiG broke ground in 2001. Then, an army of staff and volunteers painstakingly researched and created the detailed exhibits and pathways crisscrossing the Kentucky countryside.

According to Ham, the mission of Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum is three-fold. “First, we boldly proclaim the absolute truth and authority of the Bible; we are not ashamed of its message,” he said. “Next, we creatively relate the relevance of a literal Genesis to the Church and the world today which has scientific and cultural ramifications. Lastly, we obey God’s call to deliver the message of the Gospel, individually and collectively – this is really what we are all about.”

Answers in Genesis is the world’s largest Christian apologetics ministry. Located 14 miles southwest of downtown Cincinnati in northern Kentucky, AiG’s offices are housed in a 100,000 square-foot office complex along with the Creation Museum, recording studio and a resource distribution center. Its 200 staff members are dedicated to enabling Christians to effectively defend their faith and proclaim the Gospel message.
