MARINE VETERAN SAILS ACROSS THE ATLANTIC
IN HONOR OF FELLOW FALLEN SOLDIERS: On Good Faith, Brothers Embark on Record-Setting Voyage in 21-foot Flats Boat |

Hook: Compelling story of how a former Marine’s faith gave him the courage to put himself second and honor a 29-year promise to three comrades killed in his place. The Brown brothers have set out on a 48-day, 6,200-mile trans-Atlantic voyage in a tiny 21-foot open fishing boat without cabin or keel to raise awareness of the I Am Second campaign and financial support for wounded military heroes. Background: Two brothers, Ralph and Robert Brown (Authors of the book “Bermuda Suicide Challenge in a Flats Boat”), are on a dangerous and daring adventure to cross the Atlantic Ocean in an open fishing boat designed to operate in two inches of water. The I am Second Wounded Hero Voyage Crossing the Atlantic Presented by Interstate Batteries is the Brown brothers’ second record-setting Atlantic trip. It follows a 1,500-mile journey in the exact same vessel from North Carolina to Bermuda and back in 2007, which landed the Browns in the Guinness Book of World Records and generated significant media interest. After realizing that the publicity they received during their first shallow-boat crossing could be matched again this year to make a difference and commemorate his fallen comrades, Ralph’s heart grew, and he finally recognized his mission in life – to combine his passion with his purpose and fulfill his promise before God. He and his brother have attached themselves to several Wounded Warrior charities and are sailing in the spirit of the I am Second campaign that reflects their selfless hearts and the power of transformation that comes when an individual prioritizes God’s calling. This recently embarked voyage will take Ralph and Robert all the way across the Atlantic Ocean, from Tampa, Fla., to Hamburg, Germany. They are stopping in ports along the way, selling T-shirts to benefit Wounded Warrior charities and bringing awareness to all of the men and women in the military who put their lives on the line everyday for the freedom of our country. Ralph, as a U.S. Marine, was on the original roster in which Sgt. John Harvey, Cpl. George Holmes and Sgt. Dewey Johnson lost their lives while attempting to liberate the American Embassy in Iran when the Ambassador and his staff were taken hostage by terrorists in 1980. It has been a lifetime goal of Ralph’s to make sure that their names were not forgotten. The brothers hope to have a different recipient of the Purple Heart Medal ride with them on each leg of the journey. This will be the smallest power boat to ever cross the Atlantic. The Intruder-21 will be the first “Flats Boat” to cross the Atlantic Ocean. (www.CrossTheAtlantic.com) Sample Coverage: Contact: A.
