In observance of the 10th annual Worldwide Cancer Prayer Day on June 5, Dr. Francisco Contreras and Daniel E. Kennedy of the Oasis of Hope Cancer Treatment Center will take a prayer book filled with tens of thousands of names to the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

Dr. Francisco Contreras is a cancer surgeon recognized as an expert in combining conventional and alternative therapies. As the President and Chairman of the Internationally acclaimed Oasis of Hope Hospital, Contreras oversees the treatment of 800 cancer patients annually.

Daniel E. Kennedy is the chief executive officer of the Oasis of Hope Hospital and the founder of the Worldwide Cancer Prayer Day. He has co-authored “Fighting Cancer 20 Different Ways” and “Dismantling Cancer” with Contreras.

Kennedy started Worldwide Cancer Prayer Day ten years ago after his father was diagnosed with cancer. In preparation for this day, Kennedy collects prayer petitions from cancer patients, their family members and their friends via www.CancerPrayerDay.org.The petitions are compiled into a book, which to date includes names from more than 150 countries as far away as Kuwait, South Africa and China. Kennedy has already carried the book and prayed for the petitions in such places as the prayer spiral at the Crystal Cathedral, the prayer tower at Oral Roberts University and the prayer mountain in Seoul, Korea. In honor of Worldwide Cancer Prayer Day on June 5, Kennedy and Contreras will take the book and offer prayers at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. With roughly 1.3 million Americans diagnosed with cancer every year, Kennedy believes prayer is a means of reaching numerous patients.
