CHRISTIAN ROCK BAND DIZMAS IN |
|||
LEMOYNE, Penn., April 2, 2008 – The plight of disabled children in the developing world will be featured at DIZMAS concerts around the country in April and May. DIZMAS will share CURE’s mission to provide spiritual and medical healing to these children at each of their concerts. Christian rock band DIZMAS, whose songs “Dance” and “Shake It Off” were recently featured on a “Dancing with the Stars” commercial and ESPN, respectively, will be in concert tomorrow night at Club 3 Degrees in Minneapolis. Recently signed with Forefront Records, the band will release its third album, “DIZMAS,” on April 29. Through April and May, DIZMAS is headlining a multi-city “5 for 5” tour, with ticket prices at $5 for five bands. At all of its concerts, DIZMAS is informing audiences of its new partnership with CURE International, a Christian medical ministry serving disabled children in the developing world. A five-piece band from Southern California, DIZMAS is named after one of the thieves who was crucified alongside Jesus. He repented of his sins and asked Jesus to remember him in his kingdom. The band is known for combining edgy, intelligent music with honest, soul-searching lyrics. "Our heart, as a band, has always been to love and serve those the world considered undesirables – the outcasts, the mistreated, and the poor,” bass player Nick Aranda said. “When we met with CURE International, sparks flew. We were thrilled for the possibility to spread the hope and healing on a global level. We see God using two different ministries, working together, to open doors for the Gospel, and we can't wait to see what happens next." At each of its concerts, the band sells CURE T-shirts and wrist bands and offers opportunities for kids to make a donation, no matter how small, which will go towards items such as purchasing casts for children with clubfoot, a debilitating deformity that most Americans don’t realize is still a huge problem in developing nations. CURE tackles this disease as well as several others at its 12 teaching hospitals located in countries around the world. Thursday’s concert gets underway at Club 3 Degrees, 113 North 5th St., Minneapolis, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance (club3degrees.com or 612.781.8488) or $7 at the door. CURE International is a Christian nonprofit organization committed to the physical and spiritual healing of disabled children in developing countries. CURE transforms the lives of these children and their families by establishing specialty teaching hospitals, building partnerships and serving as an advocate for these children. To date, CURE has performed 46,000 surgeries and treated more than 650,000 patients. |
